About my funding woes

Well, basically, people are pretending that they like my singing voice more than my original songs because they fundamentally disagree with the politics of my musicals.

Whether it be the environmental activism of Shipwrecked On Islands or the comment on prostitution that The Perfumed Garden story is, they'd rather have me sing their songs so that they can borrow my gayness.

That's why I'm not really happy with NZ Opera, and I'm also annoyed that Mark and Luke were so damn keen on using my songs in Unruly Tourists. Again, because the politics of Shipwrecked are simply too extreme for all those conservative rich people...

Plus this whole thing where the NZSO and the NZ School of Music both attempted to force me to sign contracts where I would've ended up signing away the IP for free.

With the film people, it's simply that they believed that they had a deal re: Weeded Out.

They're wrong, of course. I've never spoken with VUW or the Film Commission about that screenplay. They believed this because some unscrupulous people believed that spying on me was the same thing as negotiating an option agreement.

I'm writing Just Like Yesterday. That ends the discussion, and anyone who revives it will find me extremely litigious and keen to take revenge.

Take a punt on my short films, or the anthology feature of shorts.

As for political funding: well, I'm about to go live soon and discuss the future of AMPP.
