I'm getting in touch with people about my projects. That's the key difference between my new ideas and Weeded Out. I sent the Weeded Out script to some friends, and advertised it online, but I didn't seek out any of the people that I was keen to use for it. Never got that far... The Dakumentary was largely the same vibe as flirting with Ms. Swarbrick: me posting stuff about the film, and the media reacting to those posts. - With Shipwrecked and the Perfumed Garden, I'm actively tracking down collaborators and asking for advice. Sent a message to Golriz, and obviously I'm talking to Don about Shipwrecked. Now that the documentary is done, I feel somewhat more confident in myself, though it's not doing much about my fear of death -- during the day, I'm fine, but at night I'm routinely paranoid and wondering what the point of life is.

It's fair to say no. Any other professional musician would've said no given the constraints.
Like, make a movie where you don't get to pick which songs you sing, even though it's based on your script?
Nobody would agree to that, particularly when nobody gave me a dollar figure, and there was a STRONG expectation that I'd make the film - even with NZFC funding - as a Masters project where I didn't get paid (but got a free ride instead). Unacceptable bullshit from bigots.
Make a movie where you wrote the script, but you don't get to direct, you don't get to be part of editing, and you're only the face? Well, if I was just an actor, perhaps...…
Legally speaking, Red Scare can't get paid based on my IP.
They have to cease, and that is the ONLY option available to James and Cass. They must give up.
There really is no legal avenue that can change my no to a yes, and I'm also asking for them to cease using ILLEGAL means to try and force consent.
Cass overestimated herself, underestimated my resolve and FUNDAMENTALLY misunderstood the copyright relationship. As a result, I'm not doing a Tina movie or play, but I am doing other projects that they also can't be involved with. After years of getting funding decisions to go their way, maybe they can simply let me have one moment where CNZ or The Film Commission…
