A lot of shouting today!
Jacinda managed to keep pace with the jeers of the National caucus - good pipes. - Question 3 = Robertson had a solid line after a question about whether Labour had politicised transport; Simon Bridges offering to build bridges during a Northland by-election. 🤣 - Question 4 - Hipkins: 'if you flee from the police, you will lose your car.' - Question 5 - Amanda gripes: I am so sick of hearing about working groups! They cost money, and their reports aren't binding, so what's the point? - Question 6 - Kiri brought out a chart of the crime rate: I like charts. Good call by Rurawhe telling her not to attack the opposition: it was getting rather vitriolic on both sides. - Question 7: $1000 for dental grants, which will apparently alleviate $95 million of MSD debt. It can be used preventatively, so it doesn't have to be for big-ticket dental surgery. Can be accessed multiple times (up to $1000 total). Gary: 'but it's not free dental health.' - Question 8: Luxon and the Nats are looking smug: it was a 'gotcha' question. Wood's answers were fine, but sounded waffle-y. - Question 9: Pay equity for social workers. There are apparently 27 pay equity claims currently being assessed in Aotearoa. - Question 11: Mahuta: 'if you really want to hear the answer, listen' -- I might sample this. - Question 12: improved rural broadband. Gary said that they're probably shutting down rural schools to improve the internet connection, because that's what happened in Kakahi. Still, 5500 people might be connected to broadband for the first time. 👍 - Question 13 - Shaw to Swarbrick: Apparently, the amount invested into sports via alcohol sponsorship and advertising is even lower than it was in 2014, so probably lower than the $20 million amount which I (and others) have quoted. Chlöe's solution: A time-limited fund to replace the alcohol funds, or increasing the Health Promotion Levy by a few cents per can. ☘️
