The Mist: lyrics and chords

This is pure 4/4, except maybe a few half bars. The demo tape opens with a sliding major 7 chord that starts on the 4th string (D string). This is a 4/2 inversion, so the Emaj7 is spelled as B,E,G#,D#. As you can hear, it slides around. It's not like I planned the intro for it. - Real intro: this is when it goes down to the 3rd fret. G minor in 6/4 inversion, sliding up a fret to become Ab diminished.

Actually, though it's masking the key, which is Eb. So, that's the next step...

Intro

||:Ebmaj7-Emaj7:|| Verse 1 Ebmaj7 I'm waiting here alone Emaj7 I'll smoke another cone Dmaj cluster [D,B,C#,E - top 4 strings]

Leave me on my own C# cluster [C#,D,B,D# - middle 4 strings .. A,D,G, B]

Unless you're gonna Bminor9 [B,D,A,C#] Phone me Ebminor9 now Chorus 1 Bmaj7 F# Falling into E

your eyes D Is too Dmaj7/C#

Vivid Dbminor 9 to Emaj7 [double-check that]

Ignore Bmaj7 F# So why can't

E We be D Wild and free

Dmaj7/C# Be like Dbminor9 we were Gsus2 before? Bmaj7 F# Echoes calling Slowly falling Into Dmaj7/C# something Gmaj7sus2 more One of my things in this score is cutting out the 3 of the chord. That's an anti-jazz reaction, as that's how jazz defines chords (by root, 3rd, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th etc.). Verse 2 Ebmaj7 You don't exist Emaj7 You're just the mist

Dmaj cluster [V1] But I have C# cluster [V1] never been kissed Bminor9

like that. Ebmaj7

You're too afraid Emaj7 Ab,B,D,G# [this in the book, not the recording]

Hiding in the shade: Dmaj cluster [V1] My heart

C# cluster [V1]

Wasn't made for

Bminor9 Ebminor9 this Chorus 2 Bmaj7 F# Falling into E

your eyes D Is too Dmaj7/C#

Vivid Dbminor 9 to Emaj7 [double-check that]

Ignore Bmaj7 F# So why can't

E We be D Wild and free

Dmaj7/C# Be like Dbminor9 we were Gsus2 before? Bmaj7 F# Echoes flowing Gently growing Into Dmaj7/C# something Gmaj7sus2 more

Interlude -- that's just improvised; learn the style, show kids! The hook'll probably sound good down the octave, but I mean for those to be big bar chords walking backwards.

Verse 3 Ebmaj7 I'm waiting here alone Emaj7 I'll smoke another cone Dmaj cluster [V1]

Leave me on my own C# cluster [V1]

Unless you're gonna Bminor9 [V1] Phone me Ebminor9 now

Ebmaj7

You're too afraid Dmaj cluster [V1] My heart wasn't D - C# - B (bass only) made for this

G

You're just the B5sus2 (arpeggio) mist.

AMANDA IS LEGALLY ALLOWED TO REFUSE TO PERFORM HER SONGS FOR BIGOTS.

The only valid answer is that those cunts were unable to figure out the chords, even with my live video to use as a guide, so I can reasonably claim that it's my IP.

Because it is my IP, registered with APRA, I get to refuse to use it in any context that I deem unworthy. This is for the Shipwrecked on Islands 2030 musical only, and I refuse to let it be used in any other context. The Dakumentary was an exception, but that was about me writing the songs. It's like the Beatles film compared to Yellow Submarine. No evening with the NZSO or Orchestra Wellington, only…

Replying to

I get suicidal, and that does lead to self-harm. That's how it feels when you're being told that you have no choices and that your legal rights are of no consequence.

Hopefully now that people have seen the Dakumentary, they're grasping that this whole 'people watching over my shoulder for being a radical leftie' thing is quite real.

If coming into town means being bombarded with pressure to be Tina, then it's very likely that I'll stop coming into town. Make the experience less stressful by accepting that my Dakumentary was a great use of all my energy, and the only problem with it is that it didn't get the theatre dorks paid, plus it built up my reputation and…
