It didn't have to be this way. This was essentially my reaction to being aware of being spied on. I figured that if I posted my entire life, it'd make me freer. What I can't fathom is why all these serious professionals and well-funded institutions were so chicken when it came to getting in touch with me?
Like, isn't it up to them to take the high road? Using their resources to shame me probably wasn't the best use of them... If they'd instigated a set of meetings about Weeded Out, that would've been the normal way for professionals to meet. Then I could've said my piece, they could've said theirs, and I could have said no and gotten a polite response. - The credit war wasn't all that surprising. I knew I was going to win, and that's why I spent a year being insistent that I had the copyrights sewn up. Par for the course. I wouldn't be a famous director if I hadn't had at least one experience along those lines. This was my rite of passage from student to professional. Better than making a lousy sophomore feature under duress...
