An email I sent to a friend from Christchurch who was also very brainy. Trimmed it, but kept the typos.
Hi Nathaniel
I'll start from my journey to Italy as I arrived about 3 weeks ago. I had to wake up around 6:30 because the plane left at 11:30. We had to have breakfast at Grandma's because the day before while we were playing cricket all our parents were clearing the house.
Anyway we got on the plane somewhere around the 5th call. Me and Dad were sitting one row in front of Mum and Stephen. Dad and I were sitting next a women who was English and now lives in Canada but goes back to England to improve her accent she said she was on her way back to England.
For lunch I had sandwiches some milk fresh water some fruit bursts that Grandma gave me and Dad's mars bar which I thought all this was rather nice.
When we were flying over Auckland the women said you could be looking at England.
When we landed in Auckland we took a walk from the domestic to the international flights. When we found a place to sit we sat down and read books but as the time to our flight to Melbourne got nearer we got up and got some biscuits and a L&P.
Yesterday we went to a bar called lone star where Me and Stephen had L&P spiders. Just in case you are wondering a spider is a fizzy drink in Italian is bibete gassate with ice cream which is gelato in Italian. Anyway Philip who is my big brother said that this would be the last L&P for 2 years but he didn't know that in Auckland we would get some L&P.
When we got on the plane and I had my head phones I went to a channel 12 called jazz tracks which had jazz songs and I was also worked on a pack of looney tunes stuff with your own colouring book which I did a bit of. [...]
We had a lost bag but luckily no others were lost. We took a taxi, which is tassi in Italian, to our hotel which was in Orchid Road. The hotel was called YMCA Singapore. It was so hot they had air conditioners in everything (including the taxi). We got out of the airport at some where around 2:30 in the morning. When we got in the hotel we found out there was a McD (McDonald's) the happy meal was pokemon toys but it was shut.
When we got to our room (729) the first thing we did was get into our bed. For breakfast we had four helpings two of which were sausages and boiled eggs, one was corn flakes with sugar do you eat corn flakes?
Singapore was so hot that we bought drinks everywhere we went to an Internet-cafe and Dad started to send an e-mail to one of his friends from work but this person works in England and we are taking a visit there some were around Christmas.
Then we caught a bus, which is autobus in Italian, to Chinatown and saw a Hindi temple there yes you will probably find that funny huh. We ate Chinese food in Chinatown. Just in case you want to know what china is in Italian it is cina. I got a Toy brought by Mum called Merlion.
View of the Merlion on Sentosa Island from the cable car.
About 9 hours later we got on the plane at 12:30 in the night. Another emirates flight again. We watched Harry Potter again this was our 3rd time watching it.
When we finally arrived in Dubai (because there was a fog and held all planes up). The lost bag actually stayed on the plane which landed in Dubai. Luckily this plane also landed in Dubai.
At least 2 hours later we went on some boats which is bacca in Italian and Spanish (we went to Mexico last year ). Then we went to the Heritage Village thing and went Camel riding (a lot of fun indeed ).
At 8:05 am, 10 April, 2002 we got to the airport called Dubai Intentional which is Internazoinle short Inter one of the Italian soccer teams is called Inter Milan.
And you have guessed it. In Italian.
For our birthday, which is compleanno in Italian, we got Star Wars lego, a grand stand for the lego football, Harry Potter lego, macchina del tempo (time machine), Harry Potter magic trick cards and we brought Gelato (something like ice cream except nicer).
Now we are living in a proper Apartment in Via Carozzi.
Hope you like my email,
Michael
